I don’t typically make New Year’s Resolutions, and seldom still do I follow them. This year though I’m not aiming for anything groundbreaking, no I am simply aiming to consume a lot of literature. I spent the better portion of the last 3-4 years consuming content, but meaningless, toxic, mind-numbing, existential dread-inducing content. You know the type, short-form, click-bait, alarmist, AI slop, etc. It’s not the first time I’m making this realization either, after all I started this digital garden largely in pursuit of my Taking Back Control / Taking Back Control - Part 2 projects.
This time, I’m going a step further. I aim to replace 60% of the time I spend on social media/online in general, with reading, the real kind. Books from the library, short stories from the internet, essays, poetry. And I’ll be keeping track of the things I read here, both to document what I’ve already read/seen, as well as to give my two cents where I feel I want to.
